Substituting For Pinch Hitters or Runners

Ray from Mississippi asks:

Does a pinch hitter and pinch runner have to play in the next inning?

No, he does not have to play in the next inning. The pinch hitter or runner can be substituted any time after he is announced as being inserted in to the line up.
