Playing With Eight

Question?

Mike Komorowski from Pennsylvania asks:

Where in the rule book does it say that when you finish a game with 8 players that you have to take an out for that missing player?

There is no place in the rule book that says that a team must take an extra out when they have less then nine people in their batting order, however, some city Little Leagues may adopt a rule requiring this. In MLB, if a team is not able to place nine players on the field at one time then they must forfeit but if this happens in Little League it will not be rules for an automatic forfeit but must be refered to the board of directors for a proper ruling.
